In working with youths, it is important to recognize that their capacity to learn can be impacted by their emotional state. Just like an ice-berg, their true thoughts and feelings may be buried/masked and suddenly, TITANIC moments erupt where they lose their tempers, feel unmotivated or when generally stressed out! When youths are emotionally affected by anger, anxiety or sadness; they will absorb far less than when they feel happy, relaxed and comfortable with their surroundings.
